Town of Normal High School Summer Theatre presents this riotous and charming musical ride, complete with audience participation. "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is a delightful den of comedic genius. An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.

Town of Normal High School Summer Theatre presents "Zombie Prom," a girl-loves-ghoul rock 'n' roll Off Broadway musical set in the atomic 1950s. At Enrico Fermi High, the law is laid down by a zany, tyrannical principal. Pretty senior Toffee has fallen for class bad boy Jonny. Family pressure forces her to end the romance, and he charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump. Jonny returns glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee's heart. He still wants to graduate, but most of all he wants to take Toffee to the prom. The principal orders him to drop dead while a scandal reporter seizes on him as the freak du jour. History comes to his rescue, while a tuneful selection of original songs in the style of 50s hits keeps the action rocking across the stage!
